On July 1, 2019 Latvian Prison Administration started the implementation of the Norway Grants 2014–2021 period programme "Correctional Services" pre-defined project "Establishment of Training center infrastructure and model prison blocks for training opportunities in the Olaine prison territory". No. 1-6.4/2-2019 (hereinafter - Project).
On December 10, 2019 within the framework of the Project Activity No 1 procurement "The Training Center and open prison building construction plan development, supervision and construction work for Prison Administration" has been announced. The goal of Project activity No 1 is to create the infrastructure of the Training Center in the territory of Olaine Prison. Applicants are invited to apply by 11:00 on January 27, 2020.
By opening Training Center in the territory of Olaine Prison, modern facilities for the training of 150 employees will be created, such as, a conference hall, group lesson rooms, a computer room, a sports complex, practical lesson rooms, a dormitory, premises for the museum and library of the Latvian Prison Administration, car sheds and parking lots.
It is expected that the construction of the aforementioned premises would result in improved infrastructure thus positively affecting the implementation of the newly developed prison training programs and in turn increasing the number of the prison staff who received training on the everyday operation of the prison system, its main guidelines and goals.
