From 3 to 6 October Latvian prison mentors went on an experience exchange visit to Norway in order to get acquainted with the Norwegian partners' practice in the implementation of the mentoring (practice management) system, thus ensuring further training of the practice managers of the Latvian Prison Administration and successful transfer of the practice manager training programme.
The delegation will be provided with information on the Romerike prison infrastructure, layout and the Norwegian penitentiary system (prison facilities and their role in the infrastructure, statistical data on prisoners, etc. info).
The delegation visited the closed and open units of the prison (infrastructure, working conditions and mentoring system of the staff, as well as conditions related to the prisoners) and learned about the duties of the internship supervisors and the specifics of managing an internship.
During the visit, the representatives of the Latvian Prison Administration got acquainted with the practical part of the training process (training centre) and the theoretical part (classrooms), as well as participated in discussions between the trainers and the trainees.
The visits took place within the framework of the project "Establishment of a training centre infrastructure and a model prison campus for training in the territory of Olaine Prison", which was pre-defined by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for the programming period 2014-2021 under the programme "Correctional Services".
Training was held within the framework of the project “Establishment of Training centre infrastructure and model prison blocks for training opportunities in the Olaine prison territory” of the Norwegian financial instrument programme “Correctional Services”.
